fafsa calendar information

Beginning on Oct. 1, 2016, students will be able to fill out the FAFSA for the 2017–18 school year. (In the past, they had to wait until January 1). In addition, applicants will no longer need to estimate income and tax information and will be able to retrieve their data directly from the IRS, right from the first day the FAFSA is available. Students also will have information about their Expected Family Contributions earlier, helping them as they’re going through the college application and selection process.

SEM @ 50: The Room[s] where it Happened—and Why It Matters More than Ever

May 8, 2026

May 8, 2025 | 2:00-3:00 pm ET

Strategic Enrollment Management (SEM) is turning 50 this year, fifty years after Jack Maguire of Boston College unveiled his “Grand Design” for enrollment management in print. AACRAO is celebrating the milestone as a way to emphasize how important SEM has become for institutional health and learner success.

One piece of the celebration is a planned SEM Quarterly article by Stan Henderson and Christopher Tremblay on the events and people that made the concept. Far from just a piece for history nerds (though there is enough to tickle their fancy!), it will showcase the development—and current utility today—for SEM models that resonate in today’s higher education landscape. Stan Henderson, who was in many of the rooms where SEM happened in his 55 year career, will preview the article in this webinar.
