The 2017–18 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) season will begin earlier than previous FAFSA application cycles

Beginning on Oct. 1, 2016, students will be able to fill out the FAFSA for the 2017–18 school year. (In the past, they had to wait until January 1). In addition, applicants will no longer need to estimate income and tax information and will be able to retrieve their data directly from the IRS, right from the first day the FAFSA is available. Students also will have information about their Expected Family Contributions earlier, helping them as they’re going through the college application and selection process.

Presenter: Dr. Lisa Hunter, Associate Provost, State University of New York at Fredonia

In addition to administrative oversight responsibilities of curriculum and assessment activities, Dr. Hunter oversees general education and academic support programs including the Honors Program, Educational Development Program, Full Opportunity Program, Academic Advising, Registrar, Learning Center, Tutoring, and Disability Support Services. She serves on the campus’ Strategic Enrollment Management Steering Committee and chairs the Retention Council, Institutional Effectiveness Committee, and serves as Fredonia’s Accreditation Liaison Officer. Dr. Hunter has published and presented extensively on various topics in higher education including curriculum design, academic assessment, academic rigor, general education reform, intellectual development in college, and leadership in higher education.

Presenter: Daniel M. Tramuta, Associate Vice President for Enrollment Services at State University of New York at Fredonia

Dan has been in the Higher Education profession for thirty-eight years and has served as the Associate Vice President for Enrollment Services at SUNY Fredonia since 2004.  In his role as Associate VP, Dan serves as the institution’s Chief Enrollment Officer, oversees Admissions, Financial Aid along with First-Year, Transition & Pre-College Programs. Dan is currently serving as President of the SUNYCEO Executive Committee which is comprised of SUNY's (64) Chief Enrollment Officers.  He is Past-President of the New York State Financial Aid Administrators Association (NYSFAAA) and a former Eastern Association of Financial Aid Administrators (EASFAA) state representative.

Moderator: Stanley Henderson, Senior Consultant for AACRAO Consulting

Stanley Henderson is a Senior Consultant for AACRAO Consulting.  Most recently he served as the Vice Chancellor for Enrollment Management and Student Life at the University of Michigan-Dearborn. Stan has long been a national leader in developing new models for universities to better recruit and retain students. Before serving the University of Illinois in 2003 as Associate Provost for Enrollment Management, he was Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management at the University of Cincinnati, Director of Enrollment Management and Admissions at Western Michigan University, and Director of Admissions at Wichita State University. For this project, he brings relevant expertise in strategic enrollment management leadership, oversight of technology implementation and support, and organizational structures.
