The 2017–18 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) season will begin earlier than previous FAFSA application cycles

Beginning on Oct. 1, 2016, students will be able to fill out the FAFSA for the 2017–18 school year. (In the past, they had to wait until January 1). In addition, applicants will no longer need to estimate income and tax information and will be able to retrieve their data directly from the IRS, right from the first day the FAFSA is available. Students also will have information about their Expected Family Contributions earlier, helping them as they’re going through the college application and selection process.

Strategies for the Evolving Enrollment Technology System Map

As with all higher education institutions, enrollment management technology at Mount Holyoke College must never rest.  With constantly evolving strategies to insure they are responsive to students and their expectations across the full student lifecycle, the MHC enrollment technology "system map" continues to change and grow.  For some, the number of systems on the map can quickly become overwhelming and the process of selecting a system is daunting.  Hear Paul Kandel, director of enrollment technologies at Mount Holyoke College discuss the enrollment technologies system map in place today and his evaluation criteria when it's time to select a system.  Paul will also cover what successful Project Management looks like today as his responsibilities touch projects across that full student lifecycle.

Paul Kandel has dedicated his 20+ year professional career to leveraging technology within Higher Education. As a former Director of Undergraduate and Graduate Admission, he understands the high-stakes of recruiting, supporting and retaining strong students and how the smart deployment of technology aids that important work. Currently, Paul serves as the Director of Enrollment Technologies and Strategic IT Project Manager for Mount Holyoke College.  Paul’s dual role has him leading a five-person enrollment technical team that supports undergraduate and graduate admission, while also serving as the institution’s principal strategic project manager, responsible for assessing, procuring and implementing enterprise solutions.

A graduate of Miami University, Ohio, with more than 20 years of experience working to map proven solutions to higher education challenges, Laurel implemented ERP solutions at Dickinson College and University of Oregon Foundation before joining the sales and marketing team at Datatel, now Ellucian, Inc.
