AACRAO conducted a survey of its members in winter 2009/10 to determine their practices.

AACRAO conducted a survey of its members in winter 2009/10 to determine their practices regarding:

-notation of various items on the student’s transcript, including ineligibility to re-enroll for academic, disciplinary, or nonspecific reasons (Section I).

-use of social security numbers and other student identification numbers in the academic database and on transcripts (Section II).

-policies concerning requests to make name changes (Section III).

-use of e-mail and other communications as official documentation of administrative academic decisions (Section IV). 

Unless otherwise noted in a specific report, the AACRAO member institution size, type and control categories are based on the following definitions and sources: 
The enrollment value used to delineate the institution's size category is defined as full-time enrollment plus 1/3 of part-time enrollment and is based on the enrollment reported by the institution to the U.S. Department of Education's National Center for Education Statistics (NCES). 
Institution type and control values are also defined by and verified through NCES criteria.
