2025 Chief Admissions Officer Career-Profile Report

2025 Chief Admissions Officer Career-Profile Report

This report was made possible by a sample of 268 U.S. Chief Admissions Officers who participated in our survey.

AACRAO is excited to share its fourth Chief Admissions Officer Career-Profile Report. The first, second, and third survey reports were completed in 2016, 2019, and 2022, respectively. The AACRAO career-profile series consists of survey reports on Chief Admissions Officers (CAdO) and Registrars. The purposes of this series of reports are to build a longitudinal understanding of the career profile and position responsibilities for these positions and to provide those seeking an equivalent position an understanding of the typical career path for doing so.

This report was made possible by a sample of 268 U.S. Chief Admissions Officers who participated in our survey and the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC), which assisted in sharing the survey.

Throughout the report, you will find insights on:

  • How the CAdO is positioned within an institution.
  • The career path leading to the current CAdO position.
  • Challenges of the position.
  • Job satisfaction.
  • Demographic information.
  • And more.
