About the Job

POSITION SUMMARY

The Managing Consultant is a leadership position within AACRAO’s Business Development division. This incumbent provides direct consulting services to client institutions, solicits new clients and follows-up on inquiries from prospective clients, supports and mentors 60+ consultants, manages the Speakers Bureau, contributes research and knowledge to the profession and develops and assists with partnerships with companies and agencies under the direction of the Global Lead.

Annual Salary $140,000 plus a benefits package

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Solicits new clients, establishes initial contact with potential clients and follows up on inquiries from prospective clients received through the AACRAO Office or other channels.

  • Participates in responses to prospective client inquiries (web conference calls).

  • Creates proposals in response to client inquiries and associated budget drafts for review and completion by the Director of Consulting Operations and the Global Lead.

  • Provides direct consulting services to client institutions, companies and agencies and project management for large multi-institutional systems.

  • Manages the Speakers Bureau including establishing and maintaining the pool of speakers, the website and drafting of contracts for review. Participates as an active member of the Speakers Bureau.

  • Creates and edits consulting project reports.

  • Provides expert content in the form of publications, presentations, workshops, seminars, online courses and social media posts.

Business and Partnership Development

  • Works with limited supervision and/or in collaboration with other AACRAO leaders to investigate and develop partnerships that result in consulting or other value-add and/or revenue-producing projects and activities for AACRAO and AACRAO Consulting.

  • Manages the schedule, content and design of marketing materials to promote all business lines.

  • Provides expert content to partnership discussions, reports and other requests/needs of the association.

  • Develop new areas of business for consulting and the Speakers Bureau, including developing content, soliciting work and speakers and matching clients to speakers.

  • Represents AACRAO and AACRAO Consulting at conferences, meetings and workshops as assigned.

Training and Oversight 

  • Recruits and reviews pool of potential consultants with Global Lead and AACRAO Consulting Management Team for hiring consideration.

  • Provides backup to the Senior Managing Consultant to develop and deliver training programs and related materials for continuing and new consultants.

  • Works with companies and agencies to coordinate product training for AACRAO Consultants.

  • Manages and reviews the work of the speakers for the Speakers Bureau.

  • Additional tasks/projects as assigned by the Global Lead.

 

 

About You

Qualifications:

  • Baccalaureate degree required; graduate degree preferred.

  • At least 7+ years of senior leadership experience in a higher education setting.

  • At least 5+ years of demonstrated success in higher education consulting or equivalent experience.

  • At least 10+ years of experience in higher education enrollment management and services with a regionally accredited college or university or its international equivalent. 

The ideal candidate:

  • Exemplary and proven consulting, customer service and communication skills.

  • Ability to design, develop and implement training programs with limited supervision.

  • Expert knowledge of Strategic Enrollment Management and the higher education sector.

  • Ability to autonomously exercise good judgment in identification of critical tasks, setting of priorities and serving the needs of the association, including the ability to work successfully in a remote working environment.  

  • Team player with the ability to interact appropriately with all internal and external colleagues.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft suite and other current technologies to help improve efficiency and productivity.

  • Strong public speaking skills.

  • Extensive proposal and report writing skills.

  • Experience with developing and managing budgets.

  • Self-directed with a positive attitude.
