According to the plan of the Ministry of Education and Training, the national selection exam for high school students in 2025 will be held over two days, December 25 and 26, in 34 provinces and cities administered by the central government.
Specifically, December 25th: Written exams in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Literature, History, Geography, English, Russian, French, Chinese, Japanese, and a computer programming exam for Information Technology.
December 26th: Written exams in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology; oral exams in English, Russian, French, Chinese, and Japanese; and a computer programming exam in the Information Technology area.
The deadline for cutting out exam papers in the exam room is 7:50 AM. The start time for each exam session is 8:00 AM.
The Ministry of Education and Training has announced that the content of the exams will follow the General Education Program , established by Circular 32/2018/TT-BGDDT, amended and supplemented by Circulars 13/2022/TT-BGDDT and 17/2025/TT-BGDDT. In the foreign language oral exam, upon starting the system recording, candidates must read the exam code and the question content before beginning to answer in the exam language. Candidates may not read their full name, registration number, mention personal information in their answer, or make noises while marking the exam (violation of this rule will result in the oral exam being considered an infraction). When recording the exam, candidates must speak loudly and clearly.
The test results are expected to be announced on January 21, 2026.
The 2026 International Olympic Team Selection Examination will be held on March 24, 25 and 26, 2026 in Hanoi . The list of students selected for the 2026 regional and international Olympic teams will be released on April 3, 2026.

The exam contributes to promoting the improvement and enhancement of the quality of teaching and learning, as well as the management and direction of education at all levels. In the previous academic year, according to statistics from the Ministry of Education and Training, 3,803 candidates were awarded prizes out of a total of 6,482 candidates who took the exam, which corresponds to 58.68%.
