The Secondary Entrance Assessment (SEA) exam will go ahead despite the almost daily rise in new covid19 infections.
This was confirmed in a media release on Wednesday in which the Ministry of Education said the exam will be held on Thursday June 10.
With the recent sharp rise in new infections, the ministry recently held consultations with stakeholders including the TT Unified Teachers Association (TTUTA), principals, teachers, parents and even some students to discuss the possible cancellation of the exam.
The ministry said it was mindful of the lessons learned from the conduct and administration of the SEA in 2020, when the best efforts to provide face-to-face preparation sessions for students were aborted owing to the continued spread of the virus.
In announcing the exam date, the ministry said it will continue to work closely with the Ministry of Health and other public-sector agencies to ensure the safety of students and to provide a safe environment for exams.
SEA results are expected to be released in mid-August to facilitate the placement of students in secondary schools for the start of the September term.
