About 392,863 students in the scientific and mathematical steams took their final Thanaweya Amma (school leaving) exam, amid unusual conditions due to the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

The Central Operations Room of the Ministry of Education and Technical Education announced that a student in Dakahlia governorate was arrested for using his mobile phone to leak the calculus exam on social media. Another student in Cairo was also arrested for leaking the geology exam using his mobile phone.

Thanaweyya Amma students of the Literary stream have already finished their exams on 29 July. The exams started on 10 July.

This year’s exams came in the form of MCQ questions with a bubble sheet paper. The exams were held inside secured committees and monitored by surveillance cameras.

The Ministry of Education confirmed that the results will be announced within 10 days after the end of exams on 2 August.
