AACRAO's Congressional Hill Day will take place July 20-22, 2022. Due to continued visitor restrictions on Capitol Hill, this year's Hill Day will be held virtually, once again. This provides an opportunity for AACRAO members who may not have been able to attend the in-person event previously.
Virtual Hill Day allows members to engage with congressional offices to discuss your work and share your perspective, as practitioners, on how policy impacts the work that you do on a daily basis. AACRAO advocates will discuss the association's legislative priorities, including support for the #DoublePell campaign, updates to FERPA, advancing reverse transfer practices, and other Higher Education Act reauthorization policy priorities.
All AACRAO members are invited to apply to participate in this year's virtual Hill Day. Members from the 36 states represented on the House and Senate education committees are strongly encouraged to apply.
If you are interested in participating in AACRAO's Virtual 202s Congressional Hill Day, please complete the application form by June 10.
Advocates will attend online training to prepare them for Hill Day, including AACRAO's on-demand Federal Legislative Process and Advocacy 101 course. Other training sessions will also cover what to expect for Hill Day, a panel discussion with Congressional staffers, mock Zoom meetings with Congressional offices, and a live question and answer discussion with AACRAO Government Relations staff.
All of the Congressional meetings and training sessions will be held virtually via Zoom or conference call.
