Identity and Access Management: Collaboration, Consolidation, and Consternation
Worried about security, especially loss of control of student data and increased risk to the institution? Looking to provide a continuous experience as students move from prospective to enrolled status? Want to provide a seamless experience for the student across many services? Addressing each of these examples requires a robust Identity and Access Management (IAM) infrastructure to control who can access what and when.
Developing an informed campus-wide direction for this emerging critical infrastructure can be technically and organizationally challenging. But IAM infrastructure can reduce risk to the enterprise while improving the delivery of services. This workshop, sponsored by the NMI-EDIT Consortium of Internet2 and EDUCAUSE, will provide an introduction to IAM, its benefits, and related policies and processes. Further discussion will center on the roles the Registrar's Office plays, a case study on a partnership between IT and Student Services, as well as steps for you to take on your campus.
