STRATEGIC ENROLLMENT MANAGEMENT - n. -
SEM XII has concluded. Make plans to attend SEM XIII in
Boston from November 9-12, 2003.
-
the premier AACRAO annual conference held from November
10-13, 2002 at the San Diego Marriott Hotel and Marina.
-
is a comprehensive process designed to
help an institution achieve and maintain the optimum recruitment,
retention, and graduation rates of students, where "optimum"
is defined within the academic context of the institution.
As such, SEM is an institution-wide process that embraces
virtually every aspect of an institution's function and
culture. (Dolence)
-
a unique approach to dealing with enrollment issues
in higher education. Although usually defined in the academic
context of the institution, its comprehensive nature means
it cannot be confined just to the faculty and academic
administration. Indeed, in order to be successful, SEM
must seep into every layer of institutional culture, whether
in academic affairs, student affairs, financial affairs,
or the groundskeepers union. This makes SEM ideally suited
to bridge gaps, to break down barriers and facilitate
the blending of responsibilities to enhance services,
as well as influence the institutional bottom line. SEM
is the vehicle that can help us meet higher education's
future where traditional offices find their walls receding
and disappearing as functions merge and all faculty and
staff become accountable for recruitment and retention.
(Henderson)
-
an integrated institutional approach to establishing
and cultivating relationships with students from their
first contact as a prospect through the completion of
their educational goal. Within the academic context, SEM
looks forward and is strategic in nature. It also looks
outward - blurring departmental and divisional boundaries
to provide seamless services and educational opportunities
to students. (Black)
-
an essential conference for you to attend to advance
your institution's success.
