The SEM Award of Excellence (SAE) is a peer-review awards program that recognizes outstanding achievement and visionary leadership in strategic enrollment management.

Introduction
The purposes of the SAE Awards are to:
- Provide formal recognition to exemplary SEM professionals.
- Establish benchmarks and models for SEM practice.
- Promote the core values of student access and success within SEM.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of the SEM profession.
One SAE will be awarded each year to three SEM professionals representing:
- A two-year institution in the U.S.
- A four-year institution in the U.S.
- A Canadian institution
Recipients will be presented with the distinguished SAE plaque and a $1,000 cash award at AACRAO's Strategic Enrollment Management (SEM) Conference.
Eligibility
Eligibility for the SEM Award of Excellence will include persons currently or previously employed in enrollment positions at a postsecondary institution.

or submitted by email to speron@aacrao.org. Please include cover letters with all submission materials.
Required nomination materials will include:
- Enrollment statistics for a period of 5-to-10 years documenting institutional enrollment goals and performance in relation to those goals. Statistics will include, at minimum, annual numbers for total FTE and headcount enrollment, the number of new students, and first-to-second year retention rates, with these data stratified according to any profile goals maintained by the institution.
 
- Graduation rates
- Two-year schools: AA/AS completion and transfer rates.
- Four-year schools: 4-, 5-, and 6-year BA/BS completion rates.
- Graduate/professional schools: comparable evidence of program completion.
 
- Descriptions of new recruitment and retention programs or initiatives that generated more favorable enrollment outcomes. Descriptions should be limited to 100 words for each program or initiative.
 
- Three letters of reference from: the nominee's President/Chancellor, the nominee's immediate supervisor (if not the President/Chancellor), and a SEM professional from outside the nominee's institution. If the President/Chancellor is the immediate supervisor, a second letter should be provided from an institutional colleague.
Letters should speak to the nominee's success in:
- Meeting or exceeding the institution's enrollment goals, whether that involved increasing enrollment numbers or altering the student profile.
- Ability to engage a campus-wide effort to enhance enrollment.
- Increasing student access and success.
Selection Criteria
SAE recipients will be selected on these criteria:
- Magnitude of change from prior enrollment results to improved results, based on the institution's goals, including improvement in both recruitment and retention numbers.
- Degree of campus-wide engagement.
- Contributions to SEM literature and other professional development.
Deadline
Deadline for submissions: July 31, 2009. Recipients will be notified by August 31, 2009.
