Towson U. Responds to Patrols by "White Student Union"

April 08, 2013

A group that calls itself the White Student Union at Towson University says it is planning crime patrols on campus due to an increase in crime by black people against white people. The White Student Union is not a recognized group at Towson, and one of its leaders is not, and has never been, a student there. Towson officials released a statement noting that crime rates on campus are low and have been going down. The statement also said there is "no evidence that people are victims of crime as a result of their race." The university said it will work with students who feel threatened by the proposed actions of the White Student Union.
