Senate Approves Bill to Protect Veterans

December 27, 2012

Last week, the U.S. Senate passed legislation aimed at requiring colleges to be more transparent about how they serve veterans. The bill, "Improving Transparency of Education Opportunities for Veterans Act," has received broad support from veterans' groups, for-profit institutions and advocates for traditional higher education.

In September, the U.S. House of Representatives passed its version of the measure, H.R. 4057, which was introduced by Rep. Gus Bilirakis (R-FL).

The bill now awaits the signature of President Obama.
