Louisiana Colleges Face Smaller Funding Cut than Anticipated

Public colleges in Louisiana would face a much smaller funding cut than initially anticipated under Gov. Bobby Jindal’s budget proposal, reports The Chronicle of Higher Education.

In recent weeks, $400 million was rumored to be the amount that could be cut from the state's public colleges. But Jindal's last proposal would drop that figure to $211 million, with options to decrease the cut further. Jindal is one of a handful of governors across the country proposing drastic cuts to higher education, the Chronicle reported.
