AACRAO, NASFAA Meet with ED Officials to Discuss NSLDS Enrollment Reporting Issues

Last week, representatives from AACRAO and the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (NASFAA) met with the U.S. Education Department to discuss the new National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) Enrollment Reporting requirements. Although the agency provided some additional guidance and extended the implementation deadline from July 1 to October 1, the new requirements are still causing considerable concern among our institutions.

Department officials reached out to our organizations to seek input in tailoring the enrollment reporting training materials to best ensure that quality data are reported and to better understand what challenges schools will face and advise them on how their peers have met or plan to meet these challenges.

AACRAO representatives offered feedback in numerous areas, but specifically focusing on issues related to program-level record types. Moving forward, the department plans to review the topics brought up at this highly productive meeting and work to address the concerns discussed. A joint webinar will be held this summer to provide training and support on the new NSLDS Enrollment Reporting requirements. AACRAO will alert the membership of the details of the event as soon as they are finalized.
