Functional Description

Evaluation of non-US educational documentation for admissions, placement and transfer credit purposes.  Content knowledge requirements: Deep understanding of the US Education System; Identification and evaluation of resources; understanding of non-US grade and credit conversion practices; understanding and development of institutional academic policies, practices and philosophical approaches. Understanding of the implications of the US higher education environment. Strong cultural competence and geopolitical awareness.

Entry levelAbility to assess education system pattern and evaluate international educational records for recognition, admission and placement based on standard methodologies.  Understanding how to locate and evaluate resources.

Intermediate levelGeneral knowledge on most common education systems.  Recognition of key academic terms and standard documentation practices from most common education systems. Understanding of best practices around verification and fraud detection. Ability to determine grade and credit conversion and according to standard methodologies. Ability to articulate nuanced policy and practice decisions. Consume new research and use deductive reasoning for professional judgement on non-standard practices.

Expert levelAbility to synthesize institutional policies and practices with standard methodologies to create institutional policies on non-US education. In-depth knowledge of several education systems. Conduct comparative international education research and contribute to the body of knowledge in the field.
