"LeRoy Rooker is synonymous with FERPA and KSU needed his expertise as a compass to recover operations effected by personnel turnover.

Recent leadership changes at KSU pointed to the need for a dedicated campus tutorial-workshop involving a variety of offices regarding the practices of confidentiality. Enrollment Service Professionals are large stakeholders in the stewardship of privacy and student record integrity. These offices are seen as the lightening rod to determine boundaries of proper practices.

Often these offices are held responsible to defend or enforce such policies and to provide for secure archiving. With a wide sweep of new personnel changes it was wise to draw in LeRoy Rooker, the national resource who is recognized as the guru of the Family Privacy Act. His ability to address critical issues among departments and restore operational confidence was precisely on target.

“LeRoy speaks with sound authority and any audience feels a certain confidence when he is present."

AACRAO’s Senior Fellow LeRoy Rooker led a one-day FERPA training session followed by a one-day FERPA audit at the University of Colorado at Boulder. “The format was great – he covered the basics in the morning, and the afternoon consisted of the questions received from participants via the internet earlier. People really liked the ‘customized to fit my needs’ format. The FERPA audit was also very helpful. Matters such as data exchange and other ‘little concerns that keep you up at night’ were ironed out.

“Thanks for the opportunity – it was really fortunate for me to have the chance to have the foremost expert here. “
