2015 AACRAO Strategic Enrollment Management Conference

Over the years, we have talked about the critical nature of collaboration across the campus in SEM. We have seen a growing number of campuses bring teams of colleagues to the conference to understand how to take SEM concepts home.  The 2015 SEM Conference will feature specific programming and experiences for campuses that bring teams.

Teams of Four or More Participants from the Same Institution

SEM Core Concepts and SEM Planning for Institutional Teams Workshop
The SEM Core Concepts and SEM Planning for Institutional Teams Workshop—designed for four or more participants from the same school—includes an overview of the core concepts of SEM and also provides participants with a review of methods to organize planning teams and the process for creating a SEM plan on campus. Attendees also gain an understanding of the commitments required to effectively manage enrollments on their campuses.

Presented by Susan Gottheil, University of Manitoba and William Serrata, El Paso Community College, this preconference workshop will bring all team members into a common understanding of SEM and its terminology, and will include a special focus on how institutional teams work to drive transformation and become SEM organizations.

The SEM Core Concepts and SEM Planning for Institutional Teams Workshop has been priced to encourage campuses to bring teams to Florida.  A flat rate of $300 per team will be charged and you must bring at least four (4) institutional members to participate. This fee includes all the team benefits (assigned mentor, daily check-in and the Wednesday wrap-up workshop).

Faculty Mentor
Each team will be assigned a faculty mentor during the workshop--an experienced SEM leader who will check in at specific points during the conference.  Teams will be given assignments to complete on a daily basis and mentors will help guide the progress of the team.

Teams will check in with their mentors on Monday and Tuesday at the end of the day to report their progress on assignments.  On Wednesday, teams will meet in a closing workshop to synthesize what they have learned across the conference and prepare to take SEM home.

Taking SEM Home
Your SEM team has the opportunity to attend a wrap-up session on Wednesday afternoon, which will focus on next steps for the institutional team once they return to campus.

Teams of One to Three Participants from the Same Institution

SEM Core Concepts and SEM Planning for Individuals and Small Groups Workshop
If you have one to three participants from the same institution, you may sign up for the SEM Core Concepts and SEM Planning for Individuals and Small Groups preconference workshop, which focuses on the foundations of Strategic Enrollment Management, the methods to organize planning teams, and the process for creating a SEM plan on your campus.

If you have one to three participants from the same institution, you may sign up for the SEM Core Concepts and SEM Planning for Individuals and Small Groups Workshop.  The fee is $150 per person for 1-3 participants. The workshop will be led by Jay Goff of Saint Louis University and Michele Sandlin of AACRAO Consulting.

Additional Information

Sunday afternoon will also feature three workshops that cover the “Three R's" of SEM: Research, Recruitment and Retention.  We suggest dividing your team to cover all three, so that you maximize your time at the SEM Conference and assure a sound foundation in each area.

SEM Team Reception
All team participants, regardless of size, will be treated to an invitation-only, hosted reception co-sponsored by AACRAO and College Scheduler, LLC, on Tuesday evening. The reception recognizes that success in implementing SEM and achieving enrollment goals depends on campus-wide involvement.
