Technology & Transfer Conference

About the Tech and Transfer Conference

Attend Two Meetings for the Price of One.

After careful consideration of our members' time and resources, we began co-locating our Technology and Transfer conferences. Each meeting is independent; however, they will share plenary speakers, refreshment breaks, social events, and the exhibit hall.

As a registered attendee, you will have the option of attending sessions of interest at either meeting. Last year, many attendees took advantage of the opportunity to attend presentations at both meetings. Bring a team and “divide and conquer” the sessions

Who attends?
AACRAO’s Technology and Transfer Conference will bring together professionals from admissions, retention, enrollment management, transfer center, financial aid, and registrar offices to discuss and debate current issues. This is your opportunity to network with more than 300 of your peers-–all engaged in the many facets of student services technology and student transfer issues.

Transfer: It’s Not Just a Two-Way Street
The notion of student mobility, which is defined by the National Student Clearinghouse Research Center as attending more than one postsecondary institution concurrently or consecutively, represents a growing trend in higher education. According to their data, approximately 33% of all students transfer at some point in their academic career (2012).  In order to be successful, enrollment professionals must be informed consumers of transfer student research and be engaged in their institution’s data to identify student pathways. This knowledge allows an institution to develop and build strategic relationships with other institutions, to improve transparency, and to guide students through experiences that involve multiple institutions.

What is Technology’s Role?
In the world of postsecondary education, the importance of technology stretches beyond the institution. Technology, in its various forms, can be used to recruit students, for social networking, to create an early alert system, or to help manage processes that assist students with admission, transfer, course articulation, and academic attainment. Technology helps us bring new ideas, processes, and practices to our institutions to help facilitate student success.
