This day and a half workshop is designed to provide new registrars with an overview of the profession, a network of contacts, and a databank of information sources. It will include presentations and a concluding breakout discussion. Modules will include: the role of the registrar, registrar nuts and bolts, information sources for registrars, and FERPA.

Two-Tiered Service Model: "Intake Plus Expert" Centralized Smart Staffing

“Two–tiered service” means that any questions that cannot be answered immediately up front by the Intake staff are referred to an expert from the appropriate area. Reassigning responsibilities rather than hiring new staff has accomplished this two–tiered, multiple–location, “Intake plus Expert” service model at DePaul. And you may not have to invest in new positions to accomplish this!

International Admissions 101: International Credential Evaluation

Attendees will be provided with an overview of education systems, academic credentials, and grading systems. International resources will be discussed, along with tips for reconciling these resources to create your own admission criteria and placement recommendations. The afternoon module will focus on international credential evaluation and will include discussion as well as hands-on evaluation. Presenters will provide samples of common and not-so-common credentials and participants are encouraged to bring their own problematic documents for review.
