AN UPDATE ON HOUSING (March 25, 2004)

The deadline for obtaining hotel rooms at the conference rate has passed. The Mandalay Bay is now selling rooms at prevailing rates (currently $199-$269 depending on the night). There are rooms available at the Luxor and Excalibur -- both connected by monorail to the Mandalay Bay. However, AACRAO is not holding a block of rooms at these properties and rates and availability are subject to change.

Luxor (next to Mandalay Bay)
Current rates: $159 and $189 and up (depending on date)
Contact: www.luxor.com or (888) 777-0188.

Excalibur (next to Luxor)
Current rates: $ $129 and up (depending on date)
Contact: www.excalibur.com or (877) 750-5464

Stay at the Mandalay Bay! The Mandalay Bay is a deluxe, tropically themed luxury resort with mystical architecture and lush surroundings. The hotel and convention center is set on 60 acres on the south end of the Las Vegas Strip. A lush, 11-acre tropical water environment comprised of a sand-and-surf beach, a lazy river, a variety of pools and a jogging track will provide an elegant and relaxing experience for AACRAO 2004 attendees.

The Mandalay Bay is also home to the Shark Reef. Housing more than 2,000 animals of more than 100 species in a one-of-a-kind aquarium, the Shark Reef takes visitors on a trip through an ancient jungle temple where crocodiles creep and lizards lurk. Other popular attractions include the House of Blues, Mamma Mia!, and more than 16 restaurants, including Wolfgang Puck’s Trattoria Del Lupo and Border Grill.

Visit the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino website and see more of what is offered.
