16^th Annual Summer Institute for International Admissions and the Pre-Institute Workshop on International Student Recruitment

Dates: July 20, July 21-23, 2009

Location: AACRAO Office, One Dupont Circle , Washington DC

This year, as a result of recommendations from previous Institute attendees, the Summer Institute will be divided into two components. The Pre-Institute Workshop will concentrate on the recruitment of international students to your campus, while the Institute itself will be devoted to the evaluation of foreign educational credentials. Registrants can choose to select one or both portions of the Summer Institute for International Admissions.

Topics Covered in the Pre-Institute Workshop Include:

Developing institutional philosophy
Constructing your international application, view books, and web site
Processing applications
International student recruitment - "armchair recruiting", tours, agents, publications
Visa issuance issues

Topics Covered in the Summer Institute Include:

Resources to evaluate foreign educational credentials - print, web, other
13 Rules for evaluating foreign credentials and admitting international students
Workshop on evaluating foreign educational credentials
Fraudulent credentials and Diploma Mills
Educational systems to be covered include; United Kingdom, France , South Asia , Russia (and the former Soviet system), Germany , China , Pacific Rim , and US modeled systems.

$700 for AACRAO member institution representatives

$950 for non-members

For Summer Institute —

Tuesday, July 21 to Thursday, July 23, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm each day
