International Student Bill of Rights
AACRAO held an electronic summit December 1996 through February 1997 to develop a Bill of Rights and Responsibilities for International Students and Institutions to facilitate access to education across international boundaries. This document identifies and gains international agreement on the rights and responsibilities of students seeking admission to institutions outside of their home countries and the rights and responsibilities of the institutions and other parties that serve these students.
The "Bill of Rights and Responsibilities for International Students and Institutions" was the result of collaboration among organizations and individual experts from the international education community. The framers of the document sought to identify the principles which would best guide international applicants and the institutions accepting them.
Colleges, universities, and ministries of education from all over the world are formally endorsing the Bill of Rights by completing the endorsement form and returning it to AACRAO. We invite all appropriate parties to review the document (on the Web or as an Adobe PDF file), gain formal approval, and become signatories.
All signatories to the Bill of Rights have the right to display the International Student Bill of Rights logo on materials they produce as a way of indicating their support of the principles outlined in the document.
