Please share your current role on campus and other leadership roles you have served for AACRAO?

I am currently Director of Admissions and Evaluations at University of Phoenix in the Office of Admissions and Records. I oversee the Document Processing Department that is responsible for providing accurate and timely academic document processing. We also provide transcript acquisition support services to all students and campuses.

From an AACRAO perspective, I am the Chair of the AACRAO Standardization of Postsecondary Education Electronic Data Exchange (SPEEDE) Committee, a Professional Activity Committee in Group VI. I have been a member of the committee since 2008. Recently, I accepted an additional volunteer role in AACRAO as the Co-chair of Volunteers for the 2016 AACRAO Annual Meeting in Phoenix, Arizona.  Please stop by the Phoenix publicity booth at the upcoming Annual Meeting in Baltimore and say hello to all the volunteers.

How did you get involved with volunteering at AACRAO?

I’ve been with University of Phoenix for more than twenty years. In that time I have held various roles in the Office of Admissions. Attending the AACRAO Annual Meetings has enabled me to expand my perspectives and bring ideas back to my institution. In retrospect, I have witnessed many important changes over the years, and it has been wonderful to be able to collaborate with my colleagues at AACRAO.  Based on my current role, the SPEEDE Committee sessions were a major focus for me. I would even go so far to say I was a SPEEDE groupie before I applied to join the committee.  I credit the Committee’s members and sessions with giving me knowledge and inspiration to implement electronic transcript exchange at University of Phoenix. Now, being a member of the committee, I hope to bring that knowledge and inspiration to others. Learn More about SPEEDE.

What do you think is the best part of being an AACRAO volunteer?

Working with the people in the AACRAO community and the members of the SPEEDE Committee has been the best experience.  We are a very diverse group in terms of the types of institutions, geography, and the professional roles we serve. As a volunteer I have benefitted from the wealth of knowledge and experience in my expanded network of amazing contacts, mentors, and friends. Volunteering in AACRAO has enriched my career and challenged me both personally and professionally to stretch myself.

What do you hope attendees will glean from your round table discussion?

We hope to give people insight into the latest developments in the areas of electronic data exchange (EDX) and tips to make EDX implementation easier and more effective at their institution. The AACRAO SPEEDE Committee members are a great resource for professionals interested in implementing electronic transcript exchange, and even to assist those who would like to test their electronic data exchange protocols.  This is also a perfect opportunity for AACRAO members to share their best practices, challenges, and EDX implementation experiences.
