Moving Towards the College Completion Agenda: Some College, No Degree: An Unfinished Story

LIVE FREE Webinar date: Thursday, November 13, 2014 – 2:00 - 3:00 PM Eastern

In its most recent Signature Report, the National Student Clearinghouse Research Center found that 31 million students who enrolled in college during the past 20 years left without receiving any degree or certificate. Two-thirds of them enrolled in colleges and universities for multiple terms and many attended more than one institution. In this session, we will review the characteristics and postsecondary education enrollment patterns of these multiple-term enrollees. A particular focus will be on a group of "potential completers," students who made at least two years' worth of progress before leaving. Implications for institutions will also be discussed during the Q & A following the webinar.

Moderator: Reid Kisling

Reid Kisling, Dean of Student Development & Registrar at Western Seminary University -

For more than a decade, Dr. Reid Kisling has worked in higher education administration, during which time has developed a unique expertise in the areas of registrar’s office functionality, organizational culture and change, organization structure, and effective uses of student information systems to drive enrollment services and growth. In his current role as a Senior Consultant for AACRAO, Dr. Kisling works to find innovative ways to increase the collaboration between student services and academic enterprises of the institution in question.

While serving as Registrar at George Fox University, in an initiative to improve efficiency and reduce redundancy at the university, Dr. Kisling restructured registrar’s office staff to increase the productivity and maximize positions, moving many from non-exempt to exempt administrator positions. As a result, enrollment counselors increased interaction with the students as the primary point of contact with specific academic programs for course scheduling and planning, curricular change management, and advising services.

Dr. Kisling has authored several articles on strategic enrollment planning processes and student lifecycle management. He has also presented at the AACRAO SEM conference, among others. Dr. Kisling holds a Master of Theology (Th.M.) from Dallas Theological Seminary and a Ph.D. in Organizational Leadership from Regent University.
