Creating Interactive Dashboards in Excel

New features in Excel 2010 and 2013 allow even casual users to create interactive dashboards that are both functional and great looking allowing you and your end-users to explore your data in ways you have only imagined—allowing you to convert your data into actionable information.

Even if you are a Pivot Table novice, you can create functional and great looking dashboards. In this webinar, we will show you the basic steps for creating interactive dashboards in Excel 2010 and 2013. Taking a holistic SEM approach, we will examine several use-cases throughout the student lifecycle.

From setting up your data, to creating the dashboard and modifying it to your own school colors, we will cover the basics of setting up a simple, yet interactive and informative dashboards. Some basic knowledge of Pivot Tables is useful but not required.

Director of Analytics for University Students Success Initiatives, Ohio University




For 10 years as director of institutional research and registrar, Loralyn focused on increasing the institutional effectiveness of Paul Smith’s College.  She helped design and implement the college’s highly successful Comprehensive Student Support Program, winner of the 2015 University Business Inaugural Models of Excellence Program, the 2013 Lee Noel, Randi Levitz Retention Excellence Award and the Starfish 360 Student Success Award.  Demonstrating improved student success through increases in percentage of students in good academic standing, increased graduation rates and generating over $6 million in increased student revenue due to improved retention in five years, the PSC program includes both proactive and reactive early alert strategies, the targeted use of data analytics and is assessed by multiple key performance indicators. Now at Ohio University, Dr.Taylor is responsible for promoting and promulgating best-practices in student success through the use of data analytics, innovative technologies and change management.

Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management, University of North Georgia



With over 15 years in the field of enrollment management, Jennifer focuses on a data-informed, student-centered approach to enrollment management.  An avid consumer of student success data throughout the student lifecycle, Jennifer relies on data to find actionable information, allowing her to adjust her enrollment strategies in response to real-time enrollment challenges and to anticipate future conditions. Despite the current challenging enrollment environment, Jennifer not only consistently meets enrollment goals but has also increased both the academic quality profile of entering students and retention rates.  Over the last three years, Jennifer has led the enrollment team through a consolidation with another institution, implemented a scheduling system that reduced student registration time by 70% and developed a plan which aligns academic course needs with student programs of study and seat capacity by campus. All initiatives which are helping to increase graduation rates.  Jennifer’s enrollment management team includes the Offices of Undergraduate Admissions, Cadet Admissions, Financial Aid, Registrar and the Student Money Management Center for over 16,500 students on five campuses.

Associate Provost for Enrollment Management at Western Michigan University



Dr. Christopher Tremblay is Associate Provost for Enrollment Management at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He previously worked at the University of Michigan-Dearborn and Gannon University. Tremblay has a post-masters certificate in enrollment management from Capella University and a doctorate of education in educational leadership from the University of Michigan. He has published 12 articles in four academic journals, has presented at 50 conferences nationally and internationally and has written a book chapter. His doctoral dissertation focused on graduate certificates in college counseling and todays webinar extends that research into the broader enrollment management field.
