AACRAO Committees Homepage

AACRAO Committees are an important way AACRAO members stay involved in the activities and guidance of the organization as well as to enhance professional activity.

AACRAO Members are urged to consider serving on a Committee. If you are a current AACRAO member and would like to serve on an AACRAO Committee, please fill out our easy online committee application form .

Appointments to these committees and task forces shall be for one year, with reappointment possible for not more than three additional consecutive years. To ensure reasonable continuity, a significant proportion of the members of each committee shall be reappointed from the preceding year. Each appointive committee reports to the Board of Directors through the appropriate Director or the Executive Director.

To preserve AACRAO as an association representing institutions of higher education, only Voting Members of the Association may ordinarily serve on its committees and taskforces. In exceptional cases where the appointment of other individuals with particular expertise on a topic is deemed to be in the best interest of the Association, the Board shall have the authority to appoint such individuals to AACRAO committees and taskforces.

Mission Statements of Professional Activities Committees

Committees are normally composed of five members, a chair, and a vice-chair and are grouped under one of the elected vice presidents, the president-elect, or the executive director, depending on the committee's area of professional activity. Professional activities committees are one of the primary delivery mechanisms for AACRAO's overall professional development program. They conduct research, evaluate activities, and undertake special projects to improve the knowledge, expertise, and performance of the members of our profession. Equally important is their responsibility for preparing program sessions related to their missions for presentation at the AACRAO Annual Meeting.
